Farran Scott

After picking up the violin at primary school Farran went on to study privately with Sidney Griller. He imbued her with a deep love of chamber music, which has been her focus ever since. Farran graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1998, where she studied with Peter Sheppard-Skaerved and began exploring contemporary repertoire. She also took up baroque violin and had a prize winning string quartet. Leaving her London background, Farran moved to Germany where she continued her studies at the Hochschule für Künste, Bremen under Professor Thomas Klug. She was an active member of the Artelier Neue Musik and formed a duo with the pianist Hye Sun Lee. A scholarship from the Countess of Munster Musical Fund and the support of a private sponsor made the three years possible. During this time Farran toured Europe extensively with numerous period instrument ensembles and performed at the BBC Prom concerts. In 1999 she was a finalist at the York Early Music Competition.
Farran Scott was appointed College Musician at Queens' College Cambridge in 2003, a position she held for two years. She has recently joined the Brook Street Band.
