Madeleine Inglehearn
Madeleine Inglehearn studied early dance under Wendy Hilton, following which she began her own research work on the dance treatises and notations of the renaissance and baroque, specialising in recreating the dances of 17th and 18th century French and English dancing masters. She was for many years Professor of dance history at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, and is President of the European Association of Dance Historians. She founded and was artistic director of The Companie of Dancers, and has often been called upon to advise on period movement and to choreograph for the theatre, as well as giving classes and workshops for musicians, actors and dancers. She has also
worked with schools on history projects covering the social and cultural life of the Tudor, Restoration or Georgian periods with young people of all age groups.
