Stephen Harvey

Stephen Harvey studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Nicholas Clapton and Iain Ledingham and was formerly a student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Stephen has been building his reputation as a soloist singing from medieval music through to
contemporary. He works with various choirs and choral societies throughout the UK and Europe and has worked under William Christie, Laurence Cummings Matthew Halls and Jeffery Skidmore, among others. Stephen also performs with the period instrument ensembles The King's Consort and The Cecile Consort.
On the concert platform, highlights include solo performances at the Wigmore Hall for the King's Consort, the London Handel Festival and performing duets with James Bowman in the Lichfield Festival.
Stage experience includes performances of Handel’s Alceste in Varaždin, Croatia, under Laurence Cummings, the title role of 'Solomon' in a staged production of Handel's oratorio Solomon and 'Echo' in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. Stephen’s most recent operatic roles were to understudy the 'Military Governor' in Judith Weir’s A Night at the Chinese Opera, and the roles of Medoro' in Handel’s Orlando, 'Andronico' in Handel’s Tamerlano, ''Tolemeo' in Handel's Giulio Cesare and most recently 'Ottone' in Monteverdi’s La Coronatione di Poppea, in staged performances at the Royal Academy of Music.
Future performances include St John's Passion and Charpentier’s opera Les Plaisirs de Versailles in Lisbon, Portugal, a series of concerts covering the music of Steffani and Handel with the Cecile Consort in Bath, and various oratorio performances in venues across the country including Carmina Burana, Handel
Messiah, Handel Dixit Dominus, Bach St Matthew Passion and Bach Christmas Oratorio.
